Hello. I am Katherine.
I am a writer.
It’s not as easy as it looks.

It is, however, the best job on the planet.

You are looking at Katherine Applegate, gerbil saleswoman. That’s right: the local paper even ran a story entitled “Pert Ten-Year-Old Becomes Gerbil Saleswoman.” (I share more about my entrepreneurial ventures in this interview with The Startup Squad.)

I also ran a cleaning company (above, in all my glory) and spent a few years as a ghost-writer.

Me in my writing uniform (pajamas), on top of a pile of edits. Remember: Writing is rewriting!

Before I was a writer, I was the world’s worst waitress. (Oh, the drinks that were spilled. Yes, sometimes on the customers.)

I rented a cow while researching my book, Home of the Brave. Did you know that you can rent cows?
